Who's Chosen
We welcome all teens to apply, whether experienced or not, as long as they are at least 13 years old, enjoy reading, and are eager to share that passion with younger kids. If you'd love to get involved and give back to the community, we strongly encourage you to apply! We expect accepted readers to show responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, compassion, and commitment. We reserve the right to remove teen leaders from our program if they are not upholding our values.
Application Process
To apply, please click the apply button (below) and fill out the questions. We will look through your application and let you know whether or not you've been accepted within a week. Please note that we choose readers without any sort of bias in regards to gender, religion, race, etc. In fact, we don't even collect that information from you when applying! The information you put through our forms is private and only looked at by our leadership team. By filling out the application, you acknowledge your consent to our privacy policy.
Accepted Teens
After being accepted, teens are placed in a group with other teens, called cohorts. Cohorts are a perfect opportunity to meet new teens, ask questions, and give + receive advice. Your cohort leader will help you adjust to our program and is always there for any questions/help you need. After being accepted, you will receive our expectations, the information on how to set up your picktime account (used to book appointments), and further information. You will receive resources on how to interact with your buddy, how/where to access books, and so on. The time commitment entirely depends on you and how often you'd like to meet with your buddy. It can range anywhere from 30 minutes a month to 4 hours a week.
